1) Understood

Understood is a platform for people who are academically challenged. The website has resources that provide its users with the tools needed for their learning, along with support. The website has faculty and videos available for its users.

The platform isn’t for generic education. The user category is in a niche for individuals with ADHD,  Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Language disorders and Written expression disorder.

1) Edapp

Edapp is a app that helps upskill employees of a company. Courses are categorised according to industries. These courses are in the form of videos. A company can assess their employees based on the courses and can certify them eventually.

Edapp is exclusive to working individuals and although they have diversity in terms of course categories, there isn’t enough diversity in terms of courses offered.

1) Explain Everything

Explain Everything offers it’s users a personalised learning via digital whiteboards, especially for people who learn visually. Users can collaborate and interact through tools like GIFs, animations, audio files, and more.

Explain Everything doesn’t have content specified for certain grades, curricula or classes. This feature would aid in having a more organised and holistic education for learners in school.

Competitor Analysis

EduToo

Every person’s psyche differs from another, which is why no two students will have the same learning experience. Therefore, enforcing a single education system on an array of students with diverse learning preferences and capabilities does more harm than good.

EduToo designs a customisable education system specifically designed for a single student, or a cluster of students with a similar learning style.

Context

Academics was always a a sort of battle with me. If I had a learning model that catered to my capabilities, I would have learned so much more and would have had so much fun during the process! That’s where EduToo comes in, to create curricula for students that don’t fit into an existing educational category.

Approach

I started out by reaching out to people who struggled with academics during their schooling life. I spoke to three people about their experiences, all in different age groups. Inquiries were made about what subjects they had the most difficulty with and how they kept up in class, if they did.

One can’t simply quit the long journey of having an education, it’s a necessity, it’s what helps us function with a purpose in a society. The quest for that purpose happens when you educate yourself, it’s a simultaneous process that requires a bit of trial and error.

Solution Approaches

Approach 1

To provide videos for learning. These videos will be pre-recorded by professors that specialise in their respective fields. An assignment is provided every few videos to consolidate the learning experience. Recordings will be segregated according to grade and subject.

Approach 2

To design a learning experience that consists of a set of chosen subjects.

A panel of faculty imparts lessons in real time with regard to their respective subjects of specialisation. In addition to this, reading material and assignments are included to strengthen the takeaways.

Approach 3

To provide syllabi in document form. Readings and assignments are arranged in order of interest for the subject. After each document of a chosen topic, an assignment is included to recap the reading.
