The Problem
Everyone I know, including me, has a hard time storing medical papers, let alone keeping track of them. Right from the time we’re born, we have important health documents that need safekeeping. These documents need to be organised and need to be accessible, especially in the time of an emergency.
Expanding the Problem
To design the app in the most efficient way, I had to gain some in depth insights with regard to the problem. My inference was:
Quantity: We have a lot of medical papers that keep piling on since the day we’re born, sometimes even before that. Storage gets more complicated as time passes.
Organisation: In order to access important records with ease, organisation is essential. Health emergencies can be chaotic. Medical records need to be accessible because they will discern the course of the treatment.
Easy access: Especially in the case of an emergency, medical documents need to be accessible. The presence of medical documents that are well displayed, serves as an advantage to both the patient and the doctors. Time is saved and room for confusion lessens. Optimum outcomes can be delivered with fewer visits to hospitals/ clinics.
Preservation: Hard copies for prescriptions and/or medical records are perishable. Backing up the soft copies of these papers gives the patient security if at all the original versions get damaged.
Context
I recently had to get a minor surgery. One of the criteria was to have my tetanus vaccine’s immunity up to date. We couldn’t recall the last time I took the shot, our papers were not accessible and we didn’t have time to look for them. In the end we realised that it was due and I had to take the vaccine later. It was a big risk. Had those papers been handy, I would’ve been in a safer situation.
Capsule is an app for patients and doctors that lays out everything investigative based on the patient’s health. Every medical test or consultation is stored under on one platform for easy access for both patient and doctors. Soft copies of the records are entered into the app in an organised manner and stay vaulted until adjusted further

Competitor Analysis
Other apps like Eka care, Driefcase, and Health-e are available to serve the similar purpose as Capsule. Upon reading feedback from users of these apps, we noticed gaps in the market. Users wanted a platform that would automatically sync up periodically with statistics from devices like their apple watches, Samsung galaxy watches, google watch OS, fitness/ sleep trackers. People want easy access to messenger apps like WhatsApp, so that Pdfs of prescriptions can be visible, for a user-set period. Users faced difficulties with logging in their medical data. If this occurs, a customer support team is able to load into their profiles without the need to resubmit the form. In addition to this, a chatbot is available for any further assistance for on-the-go queries.
Approach
To present the user with two features- one, the storage and organisation of medical documents and two, the resources and means to book an appointment with a doctor of the user's choice.
